Near the cruise port in Puerto Rico
San Juan's cruise ships tie up in two places. Piers 3 and 4 line the Old San Juan waterfront on Paseo Gilberto Concepción de Gracia, at the foot of the old city. The Pan American Piers sit across the San Antonio Channel in Isla Grande, beside the Convention Center district. Pier 1, the historic pier next to them, is out of service while the port plans its rebuild.
Every home on this page is within a 25-minute walk of one of those piers, and each one shows its own walking time to the nearest. We measured the minutes along the streets, not in a straight line, at an ordinary 4.8 km/h (3 mph), and rounded up. The Old San Juan homes are the closest, all within a quarter of an hour of Pier 3, and Pier 4 is about 200 metres further along the same waterfront street.
If your ship is at the Pan American Piers, Old San Juan is a taxi ride rather than a walk: the channel is in the way, and on foot the route around it is about five kilometres. The port says shuttles run to the city when ships dock there. The homes by the Convention Center district are the ones within walking distance of that terminal.
Worth knowing: There is no parking at the port itself. The port points drivers to the Covadonga public lot across from the piers and to private lots nearby.

What to know
Which pier is my ship at?
The port lists the berth for every call on its online schedule, ship by ship, and your cruise line will confirm it. On the schedule as published on 25 September 2026, about three in four cruise calls to the end of the year were at Piers 3 and 4, and the rest at the Pan American Piers. The port notes that schedules can change with the weather and operations, so check again in the week you sail.
Piers 3 and 4 each have an east and a west berth, and the minutes on each home stop at the pier entrance on the waterfront street. The walk along the pier to your gangway comes on top: Pier 3 runs about 300 metres out into the bay.
The night before you sail
Check-out at these homes is by 11 in the morning. Boarding times are set by each cruise line, and the port asks passengers to arrive at the time their line gives them, so plan the morning around your ticket rather than the check-out. Every passenger and every bag goes through security screening at the terminal.
Old San Juan's streets are the narrow blue cobblestones the city is known for, so a rolling case is slow going, and the walking times here are for walking without bags. Each home's page lists a lift where there is one.
When you come off the ship
On the port's schedule most ships dock early, many between six and eight in the morning, and check-in at these homes is in the afternoon; each home's page gives the hour. With a few hours before check-in, the old city is on your doorstep: from the Pier 3 entrance, Castillo San Cristóbal is about 7 minutes on foot, the Paseo de la Princesa about 10, La Fortaleza about 12 and El Morro about 24.
From the airport to the piers
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) is just under 12 km (about 7.3 miles) from Piers 3 and 4 in a straight line, and 10.5 km (6.5 miles) from the Pan American Piers. The road is longer. The port puts the taxi or rideshare trip at about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic, and advises against the public bus with luggage: service is limited and the trip can take over an hour.
Staying further out
Condado, Santurce and Ocean Park are a short taxi ride from the piers rather than a walk, 3 to 7.5 km away in a straight line. Isla Verde and the rest of Carolina, out by the airport, are 10 to 16 km away. Dorado and Luquillo are a drive of their own, about 17 km and 42 km from Old San Juan's piers.
