With free parking in Puerto Rico

If you are renting a car — and for El Yunque, the west coast or anywhere past the metro area you will want one — parking stops being a detail and becomes the thing that shapes your day. Old San Juan is the hardest: the streets are 16th-century width, most are one-way, and residential permit zones cover much of the quarter.

These homes include somewhere to put the car. Some have a dedicated space, some a garage, some a driveway. Each property page says which, because "parking included" covering a shared lot two streets away is a different proposition from a space at the door.

Worth knowing: Street parking in Old San Juan is public and first-come. Tickets and towing are the driver's responsibility, so read the signs before leaving a car overnight.
