Villas de Playa II sits inside Dorado del Mar, a master-planned, gated resort enclave on Puerto Rico’s north coast — often called the “Golden Coast” for its honey-colored beaches and year-round sunshine. The community unfurls along a mile-long ribbon of sand flanked by swaying palms, low-rise condos, and manicured fairways. A 24-hour security gate keeps traffic to a minimum, so morning jogs and sunset strolls feel peaceful even in high season.

Right next door sprawls the Dorado Beach and TPC-ranked golf courses as well as the five-star Ritz-Carlton Reserve, whose acclaimed COA and Positivo restaurants draw food-lovers from San Juan . Within five minutes of the villa you’ll also find casual local favorites like El Vagón Dorado, Metropol, and Restaurante Grappa . Groceries and essentials are a breeze: a SuperMax supermarket, Walgreens, and gas station cluster along PR-693 just outside the gate.

History buffs can pop into Casa del Rey, one of the island’s oldest colonial homes, or trace Taíno legends at Ojo del Buey Park. Adventurers can book reef dives, kite-surfing lessons, or kayak tours of the nearby Laguna de Joyuda. Families love the lifeguarded Balneario Manuel “La Poza” beach, playground-dotted waterfront paths, and weekend artisan markets on Dorado’s leafy plaza.

Evenings are pure Caribbean magic: think glowing sunsets over the Atlantic, live bomba beats drifting from beachfront bars, and starlit walks back to your private balcony.

By car – The villa includes two reserved parking spots, and having a car is the easiest way to explore. From Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), the drive is about 32–35 minutes (24 miles / 38 km) via PR-26 and the toll expressway PR-22 . Car-rental desks are plentiful at SJU; if you prefer local flair, Dorado Car Rental will even deliver to the gate.

Ride-share & taxis – Uber operates between the airport and Dorado but can be spotty late at night. Local taxis are available (ask the guard for a card).

Public transport – AMT buses link Bayamón Metro station with Dorado via Route D17; from Bayamón you can hop on Tren Urbano into San Juan . It’s cheap but slow and doesn’t run late, so most guests use it for day trips only.

On foot & wheels – Once inside Dorado del Mar you can walk to the beach in two minutes, reach the golf clubhouse in ten, and wander shaded sidewalks lined with almond and flamboyant trees. Joggers and cyclists often loop the six-mile coastal road before breakfast. Golf-cart and e-bike rentals are popular for zipping between restaurants, supermarkets, and the Dorado Beach Ritz-Carlton spa.

Day-trip distances • Old San Juan’s 500-year-old forts – 40 min drive • El Yunque Rainforest waterfalls – 1 hr 20 min • Bioluminescent bay at Laguna Grande – 1 hr • Cueva del Indio sea arches – 35 min north along PR-681

Whether you’re craving haute cuisine at a tree-top table, a beginner surf break, or a boutique shopping spree in Condado, Villas de Playa II places you close enough for easy adventures yet far enough for tranquil, wave-lapped nights.

• Pool hours are HOA-managed (typically 9 am – 9 pm) and may change without notice. • Villa is not equipped with a generator—brief island power outages (even though unlikely) can pause A/C and Wi-Fi. • Please return all keys at checkout; replacement fees apply. • Quiet residential community: observe posted rules for noise, wristbands, parking and maximum occupancy. • Smoking, pets and parties are prohibited by condo bylaws. • Tropical climate means the occasional mosquitos sometimes—keep doors closed and repellent handy for al-fresco evenings.

Diana’s place was very nice, very clean, fairly quiet. It’s a townhouse so you have close neighbors. The beach right down the block and super accessible the pool is literally a 2 minute walk and you’re in a gated community within a gated community. Her place was comfortable and overall we had a lovely stay.

  • Zaira Rivera-Diaz★★★★★

Very responsive host. There was an issue with the check in and it was fixed as quickly as they could. Clean and quiet. Comfortable space and accessible.

  • Sofia Szigethy★★★★★

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dorado. The location was a great middle ground for adventures to Crash Boat, El Yunque, Fajardo, and Old San Juan. The home was spacious, well air conditioned, clean, and conducive to renting a car. Additionally, the local beach was beautiful and perfect for catching a sunset. The neighborhood was very save and our hosts were extremely responsive.

  • Efrain Diaz★★★★★

A-1! Felt right at home. As described, the home is fully stocked with linens, towels, beach chairs and fully stocked kitchen. The location was excellent, steps away from the beach and local food. Would stay again!

  • Marcial Lopez★★★★★

Diana’s villa is exactly what we needed. Good size rooms, AC and ceiling fans in all rooms and a private parking spot. Walkable distance to a nice beach. I would definitely come back in the near future.

  • Maryam Saeed★★★★★

We are a family of 5 and were in Puerto Rico for winter break. We had a wonderful stay and everything was exactly as portrayed. The host has excellent communication skills and was very responsive. We also enjoyed the surroundings very much and beach was walking distance.
